Finally! Willow Garage announced the pricing of their open-source robot platform PR2: 400 000$.
This does not come as a surprise as there have been some rumors about Willow selling their baby. Currently this means PR2 would cost you 314 490€, which is not as expensive as some of us have feared but still it is way to expensive for many research facilities, which is why Willow has given away 11 robots for free and will give a 120 000$ discount to discount award program winners that have to prove to have made significant contributions to the open source community. We will see how this is going to develop...
